Do our fears get worse as we get older?

I have been asked to contribute to an article for a top women's magazine looking at how fear affects different people. One of their questions was do people get less adventurous as they get older?

The majority of people do get less adventurous as they get older. We are actually born with only 2 inherent fears: fear of loud noises and fear of falling. We learn the rest throughout our infant years and all the way through to adulthood.

As we reach adulthood our views about what is possible and impossible become fixed. We create our own self-imposed limits and barriers when we listen to others, the media or just your mate down the pub drinking a beer who all of a sudden becomes an oracle of your beliefs.

I believe people need to take responsibility for themselves and do what their body tells them to do and what not to do. Go and do something outside of your comfort zone and really get that adrenalin pumping through your body, laugh at the situation and enjoy the experience, it’s the best drug you can ever have!

I'll let you know when the magazine is out.
